Summary of Conclusion/Findings
The study evaluated the impact of home-delivered Dietary Approach to Stop Hypertension (DASH) meals on the diets of older adults with cardiovascular disease. Participants were randomized to receive 7 therapeutic meals weekly for 12 months. The study found that those who received meals were significantly more likely to achieve intermediate DASH accordance and meet saturated fat targets compared to those who did not receive meals. The benefits were more pronounced at 6 months and slightly attenuated by 12 months. Gains were marginally larger for whites and higher-income individuals.
